If you have a peloton bike or tread, you might notice there is a camera on your peloton bike and tread. You may be wondering, “Can Peloton instructors see you during a class?” The answer is no.

Lets know details about it.

Can Peloton Instructors See You?

As a whole, Peloton instructors can not see you while you’re working out or during a class. Peloton instructors just can see your profile data and milestones you achieve. You can use the peloton camera for video chat with your friends in the same peloton class or workout session.

However, that doesn’t mean they don’t have a way of knowing whether or not you’re doing the exercises correctly.

Each bike is equipped with sensors that track your heart rate, cadence, and resistance, and that data is sent to the instructor in real-time. So even though they can’t see you, they can tell if you’re not putting in the effort.

Of course, there are some things that the instructors can’t see. They can’t tell if you’re wearing the proper shoes, for example, or if you’re holding onto the handlebars correctly.

But as long as you’re following their instructions and putting in a good effort, you’ll be fine.

So what’s the Peloton camera for?

With the camera on your Peloton, you can video chat with your friends who also use Peloton while you are riding.

For this option to work, both riders must choose to use it, so you won’t be pushed into a video call without your permission.

If you want a more interactive and immersive riding experience, this may be a feature you want to try.

Peloton camera specifications

  • Peloton Bike: 5-megapixel
  • Peloton Bike+: 8-megapixel
  • Peloton Tread: 8-megapixel

Setting up video chat

  • First, go to the Profile Menu and then click on Profile Settings.
  • Then, click “Enable Video Chat” on the “Social” tab.

How to Start a Video Chat

  • To start a live chat with a friend, you must follow them and be in the same class.
  • You must both be using the same Peloton product. (People who use the Bike cannot video chat with people who use the Tread!)
  • Lastly, join the same class that your friend is in, and then scroll down the leaderboard on the right until you find your friend’s username. To ask them to chat, click on their name and then press the “Talk” button.

What can my Peloton followers see?

Your followers can see your profile picture, your username, your city, and your country. They can also see your workout history and bike stats along with average cadence, average resistance, distance, speed, and output.

This can inspire and motivate other riders, but you may not want everyone to have access to this data.

If so, make your Peloton profile private. This lets you control who follows you and what the public sees on your profile.

How do I turn off my Peloton camera?

There is a camera located at the top of the screen on both the Peloton Bike, Bike+ and tread. If you want to disable the camera, you can use the privacy cover’s to disbale (left-right switch).

So there you have it—the peloton instructors cannot see you while you’re working out. If you’re worried about your privacy, you might want to look into your profile settings so you can decide who can see what.
